Oswestry Orthopaedic Hospital, a self-governing NHS Trust situated on the borders of Shropshire and North Wales, has been in operation on the same site since 1921.
It has its own coat of arms granted by the Royal College of Heraldry at the end of World War II, and its own Professor of Orthopaedics.
Today it has a worldwide reputation for excellence and has treated many sporting celebrities as well as the general public during its many years of operation.
At the opening of the hospital three high-volume, coal fired, steam raising boilers were installed by Danks, whose name is now incorporated into Wellman Robey.
Over a period of nearly fifty years they gave excellent reliable service and were not replaced until the late 1960's.
At the time of change three new Robey "Lincoln" boilers, fired on Heavy Oil and Gas, were chosen as the replacements, ( the Lincoln brand name is also incorporated within Wellman Robey ).
During the last few weeks three new steam boilers have come online and once again Wellman Robey have been chosen as the supplier, even the burners on the boilers have been manufactured and supplied by G.P Burners Ltd who are also part of the Wellman Group.
The well established proceedure of operating three boilers, two in operation and one standing by on low fire and sequence rotated on a weekly basis, has proven to be invaluable for reliability alone. The main fuel is now Natural Gas with Light Oil as the secondary fuel, allowing the fuel purchasing advantages of using an interuuptible gas tariff.
To add to the eighty years of brand loyalty, Wellman Robey have won the contract to service the new boilers. This includes annual inspection for insurance purposes plus six monthly detailed inspections for all three boilers. burners and water level controls.
Wellman Robey have a comprehensive menu for servicing and repair of most makes of fossil fuel fired boilers and also carry a vast range of spares.
The good relationship between the client and Wellman Robey is set to continue and by the middle of the century is expected to result in a fourth term of boiler supply.
